Theme​

Settings → Theme:

Distance Units​

Settings → Units:

  • Miles - For US users
  • Kilometers - For everyone else

This affects how distance is displayed throughout the app.

Notifications​

Push Notifications​

Settings → Notifications:

Managing Noise​

Too many notifications?

  • Turn off chat notifications for casual gauntlets
  • Keep leaderboard alerts for competitive ones
  • Daily reminders help maintain habits

Health Data Settings​

Sync Frequency​

Settings → Health Data → Sync Frequency:

  • Hourly - Most current data, best for active challenges
  • Every 6 hours - Good balance
  • Daily - Minimal battery impact

Auto-Sync​

Enable background sync so your activity updates automatically without opening the app.

Manual Sync​

Tap Sync Now anytime to force an immediate update.

Account Settings​

Edit Profile​

Settings → Edit Profile:

  • Display name - What others see
  • Profile photo - Add personality
  • Bio - Tell others about yourself

Privacy​

Settings → Privacy:

  • Public profile - Anyone can see your stats
  • Participants only - Only gauntlet members see details
  • Private - Minimal visibility

Change Password​

Settings → Account → Change Password (email accounts only)

Delete Account​

Settings → Account → Delete Account

  • Downloads your data first (optional)
  • Permanently removes all data
  • Cannot be undone

Payment Settings​

Payment Methods​

Settings → Payments → Payment Methods:

  • Add credit/debit cards
  • Apple Pay / Google Pay
  • Set default payment method

Payout Methods​

Settings → Payments → Payout Methods:

  • Add bank account or debit card
  • Required to receive prize winnings
  • Identity verification may be required

Transaction History​

View all payments and payouts in Settings → Payments → History.

App Preferences​

Default Metric​

Set your preferred activity metric:

  • Steps
  • Distance
  • Calories

This becomes the default when browsing gauntlets.

Sounds​

Settings → Sounds:

  • Achievement sounds
  • Message notifications
  • Enable/disable haptic feedback

Data & Storage​

Clear Cache​

Settings → Storage → Clear Cache

Frees up space without losing your data. Good if the app feels slow.

Export Data​

Settings → Data → Export

Download all your data:

  • Challenge history
  • Activity logs
  • Payment history

Available in JSON or CSV format.

Accessibility​

Text Size​

Goal Gauntlet respects your phone's text size settings.

Screen Reader​

Compatible with VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android).

Reduce Motion​

Respects your phone's reduce motion setting for animations.

Q: How do I reset all settings? A: There's no single reset button. Change individual settings or reinstall the app.

Q: Will changing units affect my existing gauntlets? A: No, it only changes how numbers are displayed.

Q: Can I use the app in other languages? A: Currently English only. More languages coming soon.

Q: How do I turn off all notifications? A: Settings → Notifications → turn off each category, or disable at the phone level.
