How Leaderboards Work

Real-Time Rankings

Leaderboards update as participants sync their activity:

  • Your rank changes when you or others sync
  • Pull to refresh for latest standings
  • See detailed stats for each participant

Ranking Metrics

Depending on the gauntlet type:

Tie Breakers

If two participants have the same total:

  1. First to reach the total wins
  2. If still tied, earlier join time wins

Time-Based Views

  • Today - Today's activity only
  • This Week - Current week totals
  • All Time - Total since challenge start

Detailed Stats

Tap any participant to see:

  • Daily breakdown
  • Activity trends
  • Best/worst days
  • Comparison to you

Prize Distribution

How Payouts Work

For Goal Gauntlets with entry fees:

  1. Entry fees form the prize pool
  2. Organizer sets payout structure when creating
  3. Challenge ends → leaderboard locks
  4. Prizes calculated automatically
  5. Winners paid within 3-5 business days

Common Payout Structures

Winner Takes All

1st place: 100%

Top 3

1st: 50%
2nd: 30%
3rd: 20%

Top 10%

All in top 10% split equally

Example calculation:

  • 20 participants × $20 entry = $400 pool
  • Top 3 structure:
    • 1st: $200
    • 2nd: $120
    • 3rd: $80

Receiving Payouts

  1. Set up payout method (Settings → Payments)
  2. Verify identity (required for payouts over $600/year)
  3. Wait for processing (3-5 business days after challenge ends)

Timing Your Syncs

  • Syncing shows your progress to others
  • Some prefer stealth (sync less often)
  • Others use psychological pressure (sync frequently)

Final Push

  • Last 24-48 hours often decide winners
  • Save energy for strong finish
  • Watch leaderboard closely at the end

Leaderboard Etiquette

Encouraged:

  • Friendly competition
  • Encouraging messages
  • Celebrating others' achievements

Discouraged:

  • Excessive trash talk
  • Gaming the system
  • Fake activity

Fundraising Leaderboards

For Fundraising Gauntlets, leaderboards show:

  • Amount raised - Total pledges × activity
  • Activity total - Miles/steps completed
  • Supporters - Number of pledge supporters

Team fundraisers show both individual and team rankings.

Virtual Journey Leaderboards

For Virtual Journeys, leaderboards show:

  • Individual contribution - Your distance added
  • Percentage of team total - Your share
  • Daily/weekly rankings - Recent activity

Q: Why did my rank change when I didn't do anything? A: Others synced their activity. Leaderboards are relative.
